All I can say is I am not the target audience for this and I really wasn’t interested in the majority of it. I’m not a kid and I don’t play Nintendo games so it’s a double whammy of I don’t care. It had it’s moments where I was entertained like the rainbow road carting sequence was good. It’s just a safe kids movie that I really didn’t care about. Chris Pratt was not the move for Mario, they definitely could’ve found someone better, though I will admit that the rest of the movie was cast pretty decently, except for fucking Donkey Kong, why Seth Rogan, why! I’ll probably completely forget I watched this by tomorrow morning. Heck, I don’t even remember have of it right now and I just watched it. It’s mid and not for me, don’t need to rewatch.

The voice casting choices are so fucking good even Chris Pratt as Mario which at first I didn’t like but I’ve came around to it.
Severe under usage of Charlie Day as Luigi however he’s by far and away the best.
I just want to look out my Wii and play Mario games now.

7/10 such a fun movie. Jack black as Bowser is the best casting in history. This plot was pretty dumb but Illuminations style of animation has always looked so good to me. As it does in this movie because wow the visuals here are amazing. This is my first watch since I saw it In theaters and honestly any age or demographic should think this movie is fun. It’s still so cool that we got all these characters we grew up with finally going on the big screen. I can’t wait for the sequel as I be there for it. I do hope the sequel gets better plot wise so we can get a great Super Mario Brothers movie. Now I will say my critiques on this which is again the plot, lack of Luigi and Mario together and the ending battle. I did really expect there to be more Luigi because that was always my guy as a kid. And there dynamic on screen was amazing and I wish we got more of that here. The ending battle just sucked we had all this build up of Bowser for him to be so easy to defeat. Like Donkey Kong is cool and all but why was his battle longer than the one with Bowser. That definitely brought this movie down for me but other than that just such a fun watch with tons of rewatch ability.
