A love letter to rock. After seeing ,,Slovo Patsana‘‘, where the younger generation is portrayed as being against the “American” wave, it’s refreshing to see the other side of young Soviets- those who lived for freedom, punk, and music as a way of bringing people together and pushing back against Soviet norms. While the Sex Pistols shattered expectations in the West, Viktor, Mike, and Punk were breaking free in their own way, under far heavier weight in the East.
The musical scenes were amazing. I loved the shift from black and white to a comic-like style, and the way the image turns colorful in certain moments. The relationship between Viktor, Mike, and Natalia felt very natural.
As a big fan of the band Kino, it was especially great to see such a beautiful portrayal of Viktor Tsoi and his music.
