From the very beginning it's clear that this movie is going to be a wild and confusing ride. And it really is. I feel with Shakespeare adaptations it often gives a better experience knowing the play before watching the movie and here it certainly feels like I could've benefitted from knowing what is going on. The movie is crazy from minute one and there's so much to love. John Gielgud for example gives an amazing performance in this, very Shakespearen. And overall the movie definitely feels very much like it achieves what it sets out to, because it does very much feel like a wild Shakespeare movie. I want to love it but I had a tough time keeping up and getting properly invested. There's so many great moments and so much to love, but also just so much movie and it kinda lost me at times.

The music is great and no matter how invested in was at a given point there was always something going on that kept me watching with excitement and interest to a certain degree. I think on a rewatch with more knowledge on the play itself this is a movie I could really end up loving, cause there are so many aspects that seem like they could work really well for me if I can just get them all to connect. Many of Greenaways movies have actually been ones where I feel a rewatch could be fun and improve the viewing experience, but non more than this. I really wanna check it out again after some time.
