I freaking love this dog

Ever since I watched The Fanatic, I can’t take John Travolta seriously. I nearly bursted out laughing when I thought of “I can’t talk too long, I gotta poo.” when he was on screen.

I gotta shout out this YouTube video for introducing me to this film when I was a kid. I remember watching it on the Showtime channel on tv not long after I saw that video. Of course, I mainly watched it for the dog.

I know this is a pretty obscure film, so I thought it was unlikely it would be on streaming. But I was surprised!

The only thing I really cared about for this film was the dog acting. The Doberman is by far one of the most gorgeous dog actors I’ve ever seen. His eyes were stunning. Story wise, I only cared about the girl and the dog’s bond. The mob subplot was crap. I didn’t find it to be a well written film. The human performances weren’t great, either. Also, why would you call your dad by his first name?

I do have to mention that there’s a shot that’s permanently embedded in my brain. There’s a close up shot of the dog’s eye and it’s beautiful. It’s honestly one of my all time favorite film shots!
