This is a pretty creepy environmental scifi thriller that leans more slow burn than gushing horror. The ethical debate of self preservation vs. preventing risk to the group is definitely poignant in post-covid times, but I do wish the action had increased a bit by the end. This was mostly quite sad.
It didn’t need to go full body horror but the pinworm parasites and giant glowing cephalopod really got me excited—so when the movie dives into a more quarantine-inspired, relationship-heavy thriller wasn’t my preferred experience. To each their own.
I love smart protagonists but some of the plot developments felt kind of random or underwhelming. Props for a gorgeous ending though!
