hard to watch cuz all men look the same

i’m kind of conflicted on how i feel about this. i only watched because some dude recommended it to me. i’m curious why. 

there were some funny lines, and some parts felt so real they were hard to watch. i like how it sounds as well. old french films just have this sort of cozy static noise that i enjoy, the music was nice, and french can be really beautiful. i kind of like that it was sort of slow paced and calm. 

as for the overall plot, it’s not necessarily my cup of tea. this isn’t something i would pick to watch. the main guy was occasionally giving incel, which is obviously just reflective of the time period, but to me it wasn’t enjoyable to watch. 

overall it was decent - there are definitely some aspects i enjoy, but it was kind of boring and “meh.”

The main character is an obnoxious, dickhead piece of shit who makes the movie more and more annoying. It had me feeling like I was watching a Woody Allen film. The only redeeming quality is Anna Karina and her performance. The story never really intrigued or enticed me in any way. This might be a Godard miss for me. I did not like this I thought it would’ve been better.

Also, the dude for some reason specifically hates the color dark red? That’s one of my favorite colors.. Anyway The movie’s critique of Algerians as extremists, too I genuinely don’t know what to say anymore. It just does not appeal to me whatsoever. It tried to be smart with its philosophical view on politics, and stretching out the dialogue only made it feel more outdated. I did like some aspects of it. it just did not appeal to me at all

not as good as other godard films in my opinion, but i still liked it and godard still remains my fav director (alongside with wong kar wai)
