I most enjoyed the camera work and long takes with infrequent cuts during each “segment.” The dichotomy of the scenes with The Rolling Stones in the colorful and well-lit studio and the scenes of various “political groups/entities” was the perfect way to represent the social chaos and political unrest of the 60’s.
My favorite scenes are the ones with the Black Panthers, especially the interview scene. There was so much wisdom, applicable advice, and generally great sentiments to hear relating to a lot of the things we’re currently (and still) fighting to change (“One must be aware of defeat, but one must also be strongly convinced, that in the end, victory is inevitable.”).
The only thing I can say I disliked was a lot of the sound design; important conversations are being had and knowledge is being dropped, and then all of a sudden, it’s just the loudest noise you’ve ever fucking heard in your whole life. I’m assuming the reasoning behind that was to further emphasize the chaotic divide of the time so I’m not letting it take away from the otherwise good film, but I would have liked to hear what they were saying.
