I have literally zero complaints about this movie. Maximum tension, maximum concentrated action, no filler, no unnecessary romantic subplots except maybe a couple minutes at the start. It's just perfect balance. Keeps you on edge the whole time, constantly interesting, you literally can't look away for a second. You genuinely worry about all of them, the destroyers and the rest of the convoy

Also after they blew up the first submarine it felt exactly like in U-571 where the sub just dumps some fuel and trash to fake being hit. After this movie I'm not sure about anything anymore. But I absolutely loved it

Yeah they lost a lot of ships, but at least some of them stayed afloat and help actually arrived

And oh my god the sea was so unbelievably beautiful, harsh, dark, and dangerous

The movie reads like a COD mission which I won’t really fault them for because they really didn’t seem to care.

Tom Hanks plays pretty much the same guy he played in Saving Private Ryan except this time he’s captaining a destroyer in the Atlantic, with almost the entire 90 min runtime set aside for pure, high-octane, technical WW2 naval warfare.

Quite eye opening to see that manning a naval ship is WAY harder than it looks.
