I’m glad I watched Charlie Wilson’s War before this so I can be sure that I’m not just blind to flaws covered by a Sorkin script.
I think standard birth to death biopics are generally not great, and Walk Hard should have put them to an end, but I love a slice of life biopic. The shorter the amount of time the better. I can’t say I’m extremely interested in Lucille Ball or even the show, but I’d watch a film based on anyone’s worst week. Plussed up by Javier Bardem, J.K. Simmons, Phil Coulson and an Arrested Development mini-reunion.
While the direction isn’t glaringly bad, it’s a little sloppy. I’m excited, but I’ll admit I’m slightly nervous for Sorkin to take the chair for Social Network II: The Reckoning of Zuckerburg.
