#1stlogofPride, lesbian yearning... this movie was so beautiful, from the colours to the love scenes, to that caravan... you know when you can just tell pure love. I think it was a very raw and coraegous way to show the life of queer specifically lesbian girls in most homophobic zones of Africa.
Truly this world still has so much to change.
Also i absolutely loved Ziki's hairstyle and style in general throughout the whole film shes an insipiration

While I do find the movie itself a little cliche and I wish they had developed their friendship more before they got together, this was really sweet! I loved to see how queer aesthetics are similar and also change with different cultures, also love the main girls complicated relationship with her dad and the hopeful ending. We 100% need more hopeful queer movies esp with poc leads

this is such a groundbreaking film, both politically and socially - it being the first kenyan film to screen at cannes. its unfortunate the treatment it received from the kenya film classification board when it was first released, but i was happy to learn that their decision to ban it was finally deemed unlawful in january of this year, after eight years.

i love to see a queer film with a happy/hopeful ending, especially one which deals with the issues that Rafiki does. like yes!! love does exist!! youre allowed to be happy!!
