Great film. This was my introduction to Jean Renoir, and I really liked it. I don’t think it’s a masterpiece or anything, and the first act felt a bit slow to me. However, once the story picks up, it becomes much more engaging. The film feels very grounded and realistic, especially in how it portrays working-class life and relationships. I also liked how natural everything felt, from the acting to the dialogue, and even the way the scenes were shot.
I probably would have enjoyed it even more if the film hadn’t buffered every five seconds damn my internet is terrible. Still, I had a good time watching it. I highly recommend it.
