As in the previous film, with very limited dialogue, the Abbott family delivers a powerful, thrilling roller coaster of emotions, and Cillian Murphy is a glorious addition. The action never stops, from the very opening scene to the end, it is incredibly satisfying, and well directed & executed, while in between there are top-tier tension-building sequences and emotional beats with terrific performances.

What I thought would have been a completely unnecessary sequel actually turned out to be another gripping horror from John Krasinski.

While the movie doesn't have the same tension as the first due to knowing more of the premise going in; but it does deliver some more great horror sequences and give us more of the family dynamic from the first film. Going off of the tragedy that occurs in the first film the family unit led by Emily Blunt are given new themes to play with and these delivered expertly by her and the two children. You feel the weight of their loss throughout.

Krasinski proves that the first part was not a fluke. He is a great director and this is proved with the excellent origin sequence in the opening of the movie. He sets up stakes well and delivers on call backs in an organic way. The introduction of new characters feels organic with the use of this establishing sequence. Furthermore, the revealtion of the creatures weakness in the last movie is used effectively in this installment and pushed the plot in some ways I was not expecting.

Where the film loses me is the abruptness of the ending. It doesn't set up for a sequel as well as the first but also doesn't wrap this one up well enough either. However, this does not completely destroy my enjoyment of the movie. The main themes are still strong throughout and is enough to deliver a great watch with some tense scenes and we'll directed action.

A Quiet Place: Part II is definitely worse than its predecessor, but not that bad at the same time. The same problem I had with the first film continued in this one: the family is just so annoying. I frequently found myself rooting for their deaths and it was irritating to watch them make stupid mistakes that put themselves and others in danger. The only watchable character was Emmett, played by Cillian Murphy, and he really carried the rest of the cast. The CGI on the monsters was good, and there were some great shots; all in all, this isn't a great entry into the series, and while it had its moments, this film isn't worth watching more than once.
