I know everyone’s saying how it all just felt like a mess but that’s why I liked about it. The messiness of trying and ultimately accepting what everyone knows but doesn’t talk about, and the fact that he thought she was dead after he left her up there had me sobbing.

The infiltration of the upper middle class by the hands of the local eshay. Captures such a specific part of Aussie culture in a way you never see laid out so clean. Pretty much every highschool girl in Australia has had a Moses walk into their lives while going through hard times, this film just dials those hard times up to a thousand. It would be easy to push it into melodrama with a premise like that but through Murphy’s restraint we just get a beautiful observation.
