The story for this one is alright and very typical of this period, though certainly not that pre-code, but Crawford really shines here and keeps this afloat along with her chemistry with Gable. Also this version on HBO Max must be quite the old restoration because occasionally the audio sounds like a robot talking, thank god for more modern technology...

Really enjoyed this. I will fall for Clark Gable every time no matter what. I couldn’t take my eyes off Joan Crawford either. Got me thinking about thinning my brows…

This is so terribly underrated honestly. Tho this would probably be the first of these "Cinderella" pictures that Joan would be famous for, one can see why she would became a major star. Joan is my definition of a star, ambition, brains, beauty. All she displays in this film. Given her troublesome background, one can imagine she applied that to this. And that ending was so wonderful honestly. And omg all those Adrian gowns are to die for. One of the most underrated films in general and in fashion too. And I loved the art deco apartments and buildings.
