Ok so since I’ve started this cage match endeavour , I’ve seen Sympathy with the Devil and The Runner and now comes the weird titular hybrid of Running with the Devil.
This low rent Traffic from writer/director Jason Cabell, explores the narcotics trade from a number of differing view points. Cage is quality control. Clifton Collins Jnr sources the material in Columbia. Lawrence Fishburne a distributor back in the states. Leslie Big is a DEA agent with a personal connection to the case.
Focused more on the crime mechanism than the social impact, this is mostly by the books and with a narrative and cast too sprawling to retain interest.
However if you ever wanted to see Morpheus coked out of his mind, jerking off in a peep both and banging a bevy of sex workers then this is the movie for you!

No, they do not play the Van Halen song.
I should've figured what it was as soon as I saw the Redbox Entertainment logo in the opening credits. Cage isn't in this nearly enough and he's just being needlessly quirky when he is. Fishburne was entertaining. I kinda liked the setup with flashy visuals, it almost became self aware enough but it kinda went off the generic rails shortly after.
My head canon is this would've been what Cage's Pig character would've become if he hadn't gone into recluse.
