wow.
si Aileen ay nasa Maynila, Avenida, at Quiapo. She is everywhere and everything. She is the embodiment of the repressed desires and innermost fantasies of men. I see right through Aileen, she sees right through me.
Aileen is hardly a character in this movie. She is non-existent, and yet she's also a human existing. Objectification is the main theme of this film and I love kung paano pinortray ni Baltazar si Aileen. In a symbolic sense, she is a concept or a fantasy made by the four men — and how she will fill the void in them. In a literal sense naman, she is a woman whose autonomy's not taken away from her and she's very free — free to love and experience things. I don't shame Aileen at all, I relate to her in many ways.
Grabe, kala ko this will be just a normal indie, artsy film. Pero walanghiya, this is a MASTERPIECE! I can't express my joy and appreciation sa direction at storytelling ng pelikulang 'to. Napa what-the-hell ako nung ending 'cause WHAT THE HELL talaga. HUHU!
I never paid much attention to Pinoy cinema when it comes to surrealistic drama. I can say that the Filipino film industry's specialty is comedy and horror when it comes to producing surreal fillms, but this director proved otherwise.
THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE! AILEEN, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
