Summerland is a gorgeous sapphic film set during WWII, and it made me cry myself dizzy. I really liked the plot, but the pacing of the film was a bit odd; a lot of time was spent focusing on Alice doing her work rather than showing how she gradually softens towards Frank, because it did feel like her opinion of him changed very quickly. I also would've liked to see more of Alice and Vera's relationship at university because again it felt like it was brushed over quite fast. However, the cinematography is stunning and makes full use of the beautiful cliffs at Dorset, and the soundtrack is delicate but simultaneously powerful with emotion. If you're looking for an underrated sapphic romance, give Summerland a go.
