❝You're reckless, arrogant, impetuous, probably be dead by sundown, but I like you, lad.❞
❝I've made a lot of sacrifices. Made a lot of hard choices. For honour, for King, for country. Do you know what I 've learned, boy? Hard choices and sacrifices do not keep you warm at night. And life is too damn short and too damn long to go through without someone at your side.❞

This was a thirst watch for Luke Evans, and while I highly appreciated the sick outfits and long wavy hair on him, The Three Musketeers is not a very good adaptation of the beloved novel. The main issue I had was with the dialogue; it genuinely felt like I was listening to someone's Wattpad fanfic most of the time, and it didn't really suit the clock-punk x historical aesthetic. The plot was also delivered in the most generic way possible, and I genuinely think that even if I didn't know the story beforehand I would've been able to guess what was going on. And then there's the surprisingly stacked cast with amazing actors like Christoph Waltz and Mads Mikkelsen, who were unfortunately wasted because of their poorly written characters; in my opinion, Waltz is the only person who came anywhere near close to moving a great performance in this film (don't even get me started on the James Corden jumpscare 🤮). However, I really liked the costumes, especially Milady's beautiful dresses and Aramis' priest-like suit, and some of the sets were absolutely gorgeous. All in all, I don't think it's worth watching this unless you're a massive fan of any of the cast members; if you're looking for a truly excellent adaptation of the French classic, I'd suggest Barbie and the Three Musketeers.
