Considered by many to be the greatest tragedy ever written, King Lear sees two ageing fathers – one a King, one his courtier – reject the children who truly love them. Their blindness unleashes a tornado of pitiless ambition and treachery, as family and state are plunged into a violent power struggle with bitter ends.

National Theatre Live: King Lear
Insane performance from Sir Ian McKellen, had me enthralled for the entire 4 hours. The whole cast interacted with each other and the set so genuinely. James Corrigan’s Edmund was such a presence, he had the audience wrapped around his finger. My only gripe is that there were several noticeable mic issues during a couple scenes.
