“When a battle begins, young men are always the first to lose their lives, yet their deaths have never once been honoured. Fatalities keep piling up as the battle among the yakuza of Hiroshima escalates into an ever more violent struggle.”
Another really tight-knit script with some great direction and action.
Whilst this one scales things up, it is also much more precise in its use of violence and action.
Bunta Sugawara is consistently really good in these films. Speaking of, the fact that these films were shot so close together and manage to have this consistent level of good performance and quality is a testament to the team behind them and especially director Kinji Fukasaku.
Another really tight-knit script with some great direction and action.

larger in scope than the previous two, better for it in some ways and worse in others
forgoes the all out chaos of the previous two entries for more complicated threads between characters and factions, but still with plenty of violence and warfare
