School is out for the summer and Charlie Brown, Linus, Schroeder and Pig Pen are planning to spend it reading every comic book, watching television, practicing ballplay, and classical music, and having clean thoughts. However, Lucy tells them that she signed them up for camp. The girls are eager to go, but the boys hate the idea.(Linus adding that its like finding out that he was drafted.) The boys shove each other to get on the bus, while the girls line up in order. At camp, Charlie Brown is chosen captain of the boys camp. The boys and girls have a swim race which the girls win easily. Then they have a softball game, which the boys lose with only one run. Other competitions are just as lopsided. Afterwards, the boys sit around the campfire and reflect on how miserable they are. In one scene, the colors of the shirts of Schroder and Linus are mixed up during this scene.

It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown
Not much to say about this special, although it did make me think about my Summer, as it was unusually long and unusually busy. Here are some of the highlights:

- Made a short film that's turning out to be pretty great. I'm hoping to premiere it around Halloween.

- Saw Sparks, ELO and Jerry Harrison from Talking Heads live. Sparks might've been the greatest night of my life. Shout out to Adrian Below at the Jerry Harrison show, his guitar playing is unparalleled.

- Visited Italy and Portugal. Both countries were lovely, but I'll definitely go back to Italy sometime.

- Hung out with friends more than I used to in previous years - and I've made many more.

- Met my Great Uncle for the first time in over a decade. It's been so long I didn't even remember him so it was a pleasure to get to know him properly.

- Accidentally saw PinkPantheress at a meet and greet in HMV. The queue blocked the horror DVD section which I wasn't too pleased about. I didn't meet her in the end which I regret.

- Speaking of music, I got super into The Kinks. Waterloo Sunset is one of the greatest songs ever recorded.

- Speaking of greatest music of all time, Brian Wilson passed away. As a diehard Beach Boys fan this made me go back and relisten to his music. Never one like him.

- Did eyeliner for the first time to practise makeup on said film. Harder than it looks but I got the hang of it, although I won't be wearing some any time soon.

- Briefly met Italian director Luigi Cozzi of Starcrash (1978) and Contamination (1980) fame. I'll get around to watching one of his movie eventually. I also saw Edgar Wright at the Sparks concert.

- Went into a bookshop that had multiple cardboard cut outs of Nick Cave on display.

- Began packing away my things for an eventual house move.

It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown
Oh, well, it was a short summer, Charlie Brown
And it looks like it's going to be a long winter.

oh, make this summer last!
