The second half of this is much stronger than the first half but in that second half, there's so much light and revelation in how Breillat functions when we see her predominantly assume the masculine role in the planning of how she wants each scene to unfold. I'm not smart enough to properly expand on all of the inherent politics for this decision but it sure was the thing that jumped out of the screen the most to me.
