“this is for tupac”
i’ve been thinking about revisiting the chucky franchise for a while, in my personal opinion, i would say it’s one of the more underrated horror franchises with its stupid camp, i love all of its projects. so first i thought i’d revisit its so and so ‘reimagining’ from 2019.
i honestly like it a lot and i feel it gets too much hate, it’s sort of like m3gan with the chucky branding and how dangerous ai can be before it really became a thing. i liked the new take, even if it’s less interesting that a voodoo serial killer trapped inside a doll, cause it kind of showed a new side to chucky. literally there were times where i was falling for his stupid puppy eyes, he just wants to be andy’s friend ☹️ and that’s partly due to the amazing mark hamill. it’s also worthy to mention the practical effects which this franchise is infamous for, because when there are those cgi moments, they look very weird and you can tell. i didn’t really like a lot of those side characters like andy’s shitbag friends, seriously, find new people to hang out with. also, i can’t hate on a movie with my boy brian tyree henry 🙏
anyways, it has some great kills, good acting, especially from the kid, gabriel bateman, a few scary moments, and a fun story to follow, but it felt very off in places.
okay bye
