❝I was broken, Andy. I couldn't make you smile. But I'm all better now. I know how to make you happy now. Maybe you don't want to be happy. Maybe you're broken too! Maybe we should open you up... and see what we're dealing with!❞

I've only seen the original Child's Play once, and that was a very long time ago, so I went into the 2019 remake fairly blind. And while it wasn't horrible, it wasn't great, either. I think one of the biggest issues lies in me: I just don't find Chucky scary, because I think I could defeat a doll very easily. The jumpscares were unfortunately kinda predictable, but the death scenes were pretty cool. Another issue I had was that the characters (except Detective Mike) were so annoying I didn't really want to root for their survival. Maybe I'd feel differently if I watched this with other people, because the shared tension would create a spooky atmosphere, but overall this was a bit of a letdown.
