i’m not really sure what to say about this. it definitely has an interesting idea and there are parts of the plot that are genuinely quite good, but the execution just isn’t there. it’s also not as good as i remembered, which is a shame. the biggest problem for me is that it feels directed like an action movie instead of a thriller. with this kind of concept, it should’ve leaned way more into tension, mystery, and paranoia, but instead it keeps going for action and it loses a lot of what could’ve made it work. alice braga wasn’t great either, honestly one of the weaker parts of the movie, and ben affleck was surprisingly bad too, which is weird because i usually really like him.
besides the idea itself, i don’t know what actually saves it. maybe the script has some good bones, maybe it’s just the concept that’s strong, but either way the final movie doesn’t do enough with it. solid idea, weak execution.
