50's sci-fi ooey gooey goodness. It is hilarious how royally bad the kid-of-the-movie screws over her mom. It's too hokey for its own good, but it's a treat the whole way through. The titular monster looks amazing. Some really great kills and effects. For how "bad" this movie looked based on its poster, its creature effects go pretty damn hard. It's definitely not a bait and switch like something more visibly offensive like The Green Slime. For what sparse violence we do get, it stands out as relatively shocking. The shriveled face reminded me of the skeletons in Lifeforce. Overall, this is surprisingly better than you'd probably think.

Why would you try to fend off an ancient mollusk creature with a fire exstingushier when there's a whole ass fire axe behind your head? It worked, but I personally would not be risking it.
