my first Kiyoshi Kurosawa film.
while i’m familiar that he’s a horror filmmaker and having not seeing any of them. i can see the horror influence on this film, with the dim lit alleyways and narrow and overcrowded, clusterphobic streets, in a land where you don’t understand a word of what’s being said. yeah, it was a bit stressful at times.
mostly, it felt like it was asking these questions repeatedly
“is this what i want to do in life?”“is this where i’m supposed to be?”“is anywhere actually home?”“where is home to be exact?”part existential crisis, part homesickness.
