Oh HELL yes
Another outstanding instalment - I am shocked this is (I think?) the lowest rated one in the whole 26 film series
This seems to me clearly one of the strongest
If it wasn’t for Chest of Gold’s bonanzas style this was defo be the best yet
It shines in its ambitious simplicity, which sounds so so dumb but it makes sense when you watch it
Virtually nothing here is new, that’s sort of the beauty of this formula with how it stays fresh and this is the perfect example why
Everything works the same, but is funnier, cooler and neater
His sword draws are flashier and make more sense, Katsu is given more to work with with this script (I might be wrong but I think this is around the time he takes a bit more creative control with the series??)
The themes of the film are cohesive and consistent, Ichi’s choices and actions make sense and are above all engaging
There’s wacky characters but it’s never too much for the story to handle
I was actually laughing in real life with real noise how crazy is that
The visuals as well were excellent, I’d say 4 and 6 are defo more impressive overall but this is going for something more simple
It still doesn’t miss a beat tho even if it’s not going for as many ‘wider’ scope shots
A clear pattern is emerging where the best of the bunch don’t have romance storylines crammed into them
Its so clear that the ppl who shove them in really don’t care about them and are just forced to do it for obvious reasons, but I think they’ve started to lay off on the stupid nonsensical boring and frustrating romantic subplots that make no sense and only hinder the stories
Thank god they’re gone !! 😍🙌
Wasn’t expecting to come away from this with so much to say but I’m really pleasantly surprised
This series is the gift that just keeps giving
