After the sudden death of her father, sixteen-year-old Joey Javitts is sent to stay with her grandparents while her author mother promotes her latest novel. Joey promptly falls for the beguiling goth boy next door, Victor, and is transformed by him and his merry band of misfits in black. A coming-of-age story about the sometimes painful—and often entertaining—search for identity and love in adolescence.

3 stars because i weirdly kinda enjoyed it a little and my rule is if i enjoyed it, 3 stars. i’m far from goth but i know this wasn’t a great representation for them but it was still fun and entertaining. the way the main guy talked (forgot his name) was kinda sexy so i probably enjoyed this more than i should have. i hated how she changed herself because of a boy but if that how she really is now, which i think it is or they would’ve shown her going back to being basic, then period im glad she found her style. also pen and cob were the best part of this movie, probably what made me like it as much as i did. my summer as a goth edit
