Handlungstechnisch ist es Malen nach Zahlen. Wird dadurch ausgeglichen, dass kaum fünf Minuten vergehen, ohne Kampf- oder Trainingsszene. Leider führt dieses inflationäre Aufkommen von diesen, letztlich doch zu Ermüdungserscheinungen, spätestens im letzten Drittel des Films.

I’m an absolute sucker for these old-school low-budget kung-fu movies. There’s a certain aesthetic that comes with Mystery of Chessboxing that I absolutely adore. The amazing choreography of the fight scenes, the distinct characters, and of course Ghostface Killer’s incredible evil laugh means this film has solidified itself into one of my all-time favourites. Not to mention it was a MASSIVE influence on Wu-Tang Clan so 🤷🏽♂️
