“Every year, about 100 million records are born. A hit song can earn more in 12 months than most people earn in a lifetime. The revenue of one publishing company during the last five years exceeds the total famine relief sent to India during the last ten. With such resources, pop has become the most powerful selling medium of all time. The product will sell easily if the sound is right, so those who make the sound must be dressed, and photographed, and behave in a way that society, which sponsored them, expects. Thus, in newspapers, on television, and on radio, pop is the language of profit. Such, today, is the price of acceptance.”There’s actually lots of valuable information and knowledge scattered all around this documentary but it’s just generally very badly executed. There’s no real structure, no organization whatsoever, the editing is terrible and the sound quality is literally shit which is probably what affects the project most over all its flaws. How can one make a music doc without treating its sound properly?
