Having heard about the seongsu bridge collapse previously it was quite heart wrenching to hear how this film was set during that time and the real fear people experience because of it. I have to admit though before that plot tie in I found the movie a tad boring and slow which I understand is kind of the point as it is supposed to demonstrate a life. However it is so removed from my own that I can appreciate it from a far, but felt no real connection to the plot or characters.

There's this kind of quiet haunting that you could only experience in slow-paced films that vow to portray the complexities of life, family, and friendships, but this time it's in the eyes of a 14-year-old whose developing outlook of the world is tainted by the hardships of growing up in a dysfunctional home.

I wasn't in the best mind space to fully appreciate this film when I watched it, as it gave me the sense of a clenched jaw and a warm hug simultaneously. It's the same feeling I used to have when I was the same age as Eunhee in this film.. probably what made me too wary that I wasn't able to fully feel comfortable in absorbing the narrative.

I'm gonna have to rewatch this once my shoulder feels lighter.
