Gentle Colin 'Col' Lawes happily lead a quiet life, running a news agency with his soiled-rotten wife Sandra and playing competition darts in the Atletic Arms team. Colin catches her committing adultery with team captain Geoff, a cop, who pretends Colin abused her. Col is thrown off the team just after it qualified for the league finals in Blackpool. If you've ever wanted to experience the UK culture, look no further than this movie!

This was so bittersweet. Like this movie is a literal roller coster of emotions from start to finish!

I feel like if I ever had to live in another country, it would definitely be the uk because it's so similar to Australia, and I know it would feel like home instantly!

Michael Sheen is so sweet in this movie. All I wanted was for him to be happy. I hated how so many people were mean to him!!

I like when Colin leaves town and all the school boy are supposed to be looking after his corner shop but instead they're just eating all the lollies and hanging out. there's one clip in particularly of a bunch of lollies all over the table, that was so nostalgic to me, probably because I grew up down the road from a milk bar and would always run up the road to buy those some lollies!

"Blackpool; the Las Vegas of the north."

This movie is so British. So British that to an outsider you actually remember that England is a place, not just one ambiguous hill of Notting, and dame Judi Dench, and bowler hats.
Really, most of Britain is small towns and stretches of land and shops that still rent VHS tapes. It is more bag of pickled onion crisps and a pint round the pub.
That's the stock I come from, and that is what is showcased in Heartlands.
It were a bit extra depressing, in that, coz it reminded me of me nan, and me uncles, and Bristol, and how sad and simple that life is.
When you're British, you don't dream big, you have a sort of ingrained realism. You work hard, enjoy your time off, and hope to find someone to share your home with.

Michael Sheen is great. This movie is charming.
