Quintessential ova. Functionally perfect with its biggest blemish being the amibguity of one character’s age. That’s the kind of stain you have to evaluate for yourself. I felt it was fleeting and far outweighed by the fun of the story.
Kinda felt like putting Violence Jack in Cowboy Bebop. Bandit Bean is one of the better stand alone heroes of the 80’s anime heyday. He’s got a solid philosophy (basically Leon, no kids) and has a number of fan favourite hero tropes: partial invincibility, endless appetite, and cool car. The humour is actually pretty good! It’s less blatant jokes and more just fun pulse.
It never lags, perfect runtime. Plot is surprisingly complex but coherent with a full on well thought out double cross.
It’s an immensely fun anime that does exactly what it wants to.
