While the first half slugs along at a strange pace, with awkward jokes and only the parts with Sverrir Gudnason are true standouts, the pacing in the second half picks up massively and delivers a truly hurtful experience. While the film oozes with Mortensen's painfully liberal politics and his performance and direction are probably the most unfortunately dull parts of the film, those don't really matter in the face of Lance Henriksen's suckerpunch of a performance and some really great scenes between the two as well as Gabby Velis.
