Film of tragedy and despair
The cinematography and location choices in this film are soooo gorgeous. I didn’t want to pull my eyes away from the screen because it felt like my eyeballs were being blessed
I wish the story had been as strong throughout the whole thing as it was at the end
I feel like there could have been more done with this film and it could have been longer and more complex. This would have been a favorite if the story had been more nuanced and didn’t just stay in the same tone through the whole thing
I love Jack O’Connells performance. He makes the character feel real and complex and you can see he’s in it for every moment, there are thoughts running through his head and he doesn’t anticipate anything. The detail of the stiff finger and his hands shaking whenever he handed someone something was a wonderful touch
Some of the scenes felt like they were cut too short and I wish had they had been sustained for a little longer, especially the scene on the stage between Lion and Sky
