❝My dearest Emma, for dearest you will always be; my dearest, most beloved Emma, tell me at once. I cannot make speeches. If I... if I loved you less then I might be able to talk about it more.❞

I haven't seen any of the other 'Emma' adaptations, so I can't say whether I think this film is the best one. What I can say is that it was one of the most beautiful period films I've ever seen, and I thoroughly loved it.
While at first I wasn't too sure about the cast, I became almost immediately enamoured by their acting. I think Anya Taylor-Joy was perfect as Emma, and I also loves Bill Nighy and Josh O'Connor's performances. I also starting crying towards the end, and I'm not really sure why but I think it's because Bill's face was so tender and full of love as he walked with Emma up the aisle and took his seat.
The cinematography and camerawork were so stunning, and the editing made sure to capture the bright and carefree atmosphere of the film really well. My favourite parts of most period films are the outfits/makeup, the soundtrack, and the sets/locations, and I sure wasn't disappointed on any of those accounts; just gorgeous all-round.
Autumn De Wilde, I need you to do more period films ASAP. Please save us from Emerald Fennell.
