Based on the factual case of a young man who broke into a nurses' home in Chicago, mutilating and killing several of the inmates, Wakamatsu's film is a precise, sad delineation of a particular aspect of masculine sexual consciousness.

You can tell that there is something going on behind the camera, but the long stretches of sexual violence is just too mean-spirited for me to think of in any other way than that. I think it does have something to say about these incel-murderers, and does have two interesting shots, but maybe cut 25 minutes out of this overlong movie that sits in the violence but doesn’t explore it at the same time. The scenes with dialogue are the best scenes.
