“Mom… do you think I’m pretty? What’s pretty about me?”
This is actually a sensitive topic for me and watching it just brought me back to that feeling of being a kid who’s always waiting for approval and seeking validation.
I saw myself in Eun-hee. The way she has to tiptoe around her parents, carefully reading their moods before saying anything. The way asking for something so small can feel so difficult. It reminded me of how I used to wait for the right moment or hope they would bring it up first so I wouldn’t have to.
That’s why the morning jog scene hit so hard. Watching her try to keep up with him, hoping he’ll be the one to mention the recorder, was devastating. She wants to ask but she can’t bring herself to say it out loud. It felt very close to something I’ve lived through.
I just want to hug her so badly and tell her it’s going to be okay, that she doesn’t have to keep looking for validation and that one day she’ll feel seen and loved without having to ask for it.

This reminded me of how badly I wanted to be loved and praised when I was a child (I still do)
“Isn’t everything we do in life a way to be loved a little more?”
