Probably the closest Lang ever got to horror in his career. This is a psychological thriller with an aire of Gothic romance and noir aesthetics, no doubt inspired by some of Hitchcock's works from this era. It's rather a strange film all things considered, but probably the best looking and least Hollywood Lang picture since his German works. Also to have this Gothic vibe, Joan Bennett, and characters named David and Carolyn (Caroline in this case), my mind was in Dark Shadows mode most of the time.
