The Last Circus is a film that I just absolutely adore. The direction and story are fantastic and are the best parts of this film. The director does such a great job at dark comedy and it helps elevate this film. The story would be somewhat typical, but how it’s executed is completely unique and special. Something I noticed about Álex de la Iglesia’s work is that the writing isn’t always the best. There are moments where it falters but overall it remains strong. But the premise and story itself is perfect. I’m a sucker for films that explore two incompatible people as they destroy each other’s life and this satisfies my weird taste. The fact that it follows two clowns is so bizarre but that also is right up my alley. The Last Circus is a very bizarre film that won’t be for everyone. However, if it’s for you, you’ll probably fall in love with this film.
