My god what a gorgeous little motion picture. A simple film, but so much depth within its simplicity. An anti-western which explores existential uncertainty in a way that I haven’t seen tackled before, in that it refuses to offer any sense of clarity. Such a well shot film. The aspect ratio provides a profound sense of claustrophobia, the camera always just lingers from a distance, denying us from full visual information. Much like the film itself. Shoots the vast landscape of nature in the most beautiful way since the likes of Days Of Heaven.
Kelly Reichardt Is definitely one of the best working, and Im excited to watch the rest of her work.
