Vixen!
Not the best Russ Meyer film I've seen (Faster Pussycat... Kill! Kill!), nor his most polished (Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls) but there's a lot more subtext in this one I didn't expect. Pretty ballsy for it's time both in content and its tackling of racism.

Vixen!
have you ever made love to a woman before? it’s quite a change of pace”
“i could learn a lot from you vixen”
*“so could a man”
i love this kind of shit i’m sorry. second film of meyer’s i’ve seen after Beyond The Valley of The Dolls*, was finally able to snag some sale copies of the severin releases and i’m so excited to check the rest out. it’s just so crazy to look at. incredibly rich colors, wildly innovative editing, completely absurd shot comps, and of course the most beautiful breasts you’ve ever seen in your life. the politics are all over the place but it’s a satirical sex film from the late 60s, so i feel the incoherency is kind of the point. vixen is america and like it or not we all gotta get fucked sometime
