when i watch a dance movie i do typically prefer a narrative to follow with the dancing if it’s very long — and this was great still — yet i didn’t have much of a throughline. love pina bausch’s work, maybe just in smaller doses. i grew up doing more ballet, jazz, and lyrical styles and this was not in my wheelhouse.
