❝If we own farmlands, they will seize it. If we carry money, they will snatch it. But if we have education, they can never take it from us.❞

I will never be able to watch Asuran and not cry uncontrollably. I will forever hate the British scumbags who completely twisted the caste system into a way to divide us even more. No mother should have to see the things Pachaiyamal saw inflicted on her son. No-one should be denied basic rights like water over something so trivial and meaningless as where they were born. The non-linear storytelling is simultaneously so engaging and brutal, and Dhanush is excellent as Sivasaami; I don't think the film would be as cohesive if his performance didn't come in to play. The camerawork and cinematography are gorgeous, and the music was beautiful (G. V. Prakash should stick to music direction instead of trying to make it as an actor).
I think Asuran is a great film to watch if you're looking to explore more cultures and film industries, and I really need to watch Vada Chennai next since the Dhanush-Vetrimaaran combo is so good.
