Paul Newman and Julie Andrew's characters were both so poorly written, the film was tremendously held back by the writing. The suspense just doesn't work the same in the older Hitchcocks, it just felt too long and pointless. Though it's still better than Topaz. There were a few moments where the cinematography stood out, such as when we first get to the museum and to the the farm.
