Rewatching Portrait of a Lady on Fire kind of drew me to this on Mubi. Admittedly this was partly due to the fact that I adore Adèle Haenel, but also because like Sciamma here we have another up and coming female French filmmaker at the helm and that had me intrigued.
I can see exactly what the film is trying to go for, exploring themes of identity and delusion through the lens of a documentary format. Sometimes the film does this quite well and that is when a lot of promise shined through, then other times it is quite drawn out and dull which is where it didn't really work for me so much. It's not bad, I will definitely look out for anything Aude-Léa Rapin does next because I really like this concept, it just isn't something that I think will stick with me.
