i really wanted to like a film called ‘cannibal girls’ but this was just not it to be honest..
i do love sort of early 70s prototype horror, it’s usually has a raw more lo budget atmosphere but a lot of them are hit or miss, some are effective and others are just painfully boring. and i think cannibal girls definitely fits into the second criteria. the idea of a film being about a bunch of girls who just eat people is really fun, but it just isn’t really used very well in the film. the actual cannibal girls barely get any screentime and it’s all sucked up by a bunch of irrelevant characters i really couldn’t care less about. the bad thing is that while a lot of horror films start slow but get better, in this film the first scene was the best. and after that it just got slower and slower, and by the end it didn’t really get anywhere. this film barley even feels like it has a plot, it has good visuals and sound but doesn’t really use them to make an engaging story, shame because the concept of this is really fun, the product not so much.
