I watched twenty minutes of this then looked at the letterboxd page for it and naturally stopped.
The film is not good in any metric… Linda Lovelace was used and essentially raped (let’s not shy away from saying it).
That being said… the film is very clearly important to the history of cinema. Deep Throat shows how bleak pornography is today.. mostly due to the internet…
Of course back then it was much less safe for the people involved, however that feeling of realism Deep throat has (sweat and such other things), has completely gone from the pornography people consume today… it’s all plain and completely unreal. Its a damn shame, it could have made young boys relationships with sex much more down to earth, compared to the unrealistic standards appropriate today.
TO BE CLEAR, this is a broad message about the state of pornography, IM NOT SAYING ANYTHING SHOWN IN DEEP THROAT WAS GOOD.
