I love the movie, especially without subtitles because understanding the nuances the actors speak in Persian is much more insightful than the English translation.
For starters, I love Afghanistan, I spent most of my childhood researching about my homeland for various reasons, mainly because I wanted to feel the connection. This is probably the most realistic movie I’ve seen of Afghanistan during the Soviet era. It’s much more than other movies which I find of Afghanistan, almost 80% of them being about the US army in the nation, and not about the hardships and sacrifices the people go through.
I love the diversity of the cast in the movie, especially when they interact with each other in the orphanage. And the interactions between the Russian children and the other children.
Overall this movie was pretty good, it’s a very well done movie.
