I love this book, and ever since I read it in the fall of 2024, I have been searching to find this film. Was it worth the trouble? Without a doubt. Is it a great adaptation? Debatable. However, it’s clear that the people that made this movie adore this book, and that cannot be overlooked when reviewing the movie. They really made the right choices overall, especially in the casting department—Diehl in particular acts his ass off as Woland. It’s far from a perfect adaptation, but it’s a damn good try.
